Update: Severe thunderstorm warning no longer in effect for Ottawa. Environment Canada says its tracking a major thunderstorm that could bring winds of up to 90 km/h and nickel-sized hail pellets.

UPDATED: Flooding follows Ottawa thunderstorm warnings. The warning said the storms were capable of producing 90 km/h wind gusts and nickel-sized hail.

The sirens were used Thursday for both the possible tornados and the "destructive" severe thunderstorm warning issued by NWS for Ottawa County, which includes wind speeds of 80 miles per hour or more.

In Ottawa County, sirens will be sounded for tornado warnings, tornadoes that have been spotted without a warning, storms producing winds over 70 mph sustained or for a hazardous material situation.
