Earlier Wednesday, a tornado warning in New Castle County, Delaware, expired at around 9:15 p.m. A severe thunderstorm watch was in effect across much of the Philadelphia region for Wednesday evening.
A tornado warning for southeastern Guthrie County was allowed to expire as planned for 12:15 a.m. Friday. According to the National Weather Service, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Casey at 11:45 p.m., moving east at 35 mph.
National Weather Service officials report that a confirmed tornado was located near New Market or 10 miles east of Clarinda, shortly before 4 p.m. This was after a funnel cloud floated menacingly over Clarinda minutes earlier.
