Russian President Vladimir Putin is hosting leaders from China, India and other countries for the bloc’s first meeting since its expansion.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said the newly expanded BRICS group showed that a “multipolar world” is being created, in a challenge to the US-dominated global order.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that many countries aspire to join the BRICS intergovernmental organization. Speaking at the organization's summit in the Russian city of Kazan, Putin said there are more than 30 countries that want to join BRICS.
