Zack Snyder has graciously passed the torch to James Gunn and Henry Cavill has happily handed over his cape to David Corenswet, and yet somehow the social media civil war over Superman continues to rage: What kind of Superman fan are you?

Zack Snyder once had a sweeping vision for the cinematic DC Universe beginning with Man of Steel, but that vision is now officially dead.

The Superman origin story is practically a modern myth at this point. He rockets in from Krypton, lands in Kansas, and is the face of hope since 1938.

In 2022, David Zaslav became CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, which owns DC Studios. He shelved the completed film “Batgirl” that August, and DC Films head Walter Hamada resigned shortly after. Hamada left his post just two days before the October release of “Black Adam.”

For a movie that's meant to represent the birth of a brand-new cinematic universe (the DCU), James Gunn's slight and slaphappy take on "Superman" doesn't feel much like the start of anything.  In part,
