The new Google TV update turns it from an entertainment system into a command center for your entire smart home.

A new Home Controls screensaver in Android 15 turns your tablet or phone into a smart home dashboard, where you can control devices with a single tap. The interactive screensaver does away with the need to unlock your device or tap a shortcut button, making controlling your connected lights or cameras much quicker.

Google TV Streamer’s home panel is now widely available on older Chromecast and Google TV devices. The home panel gives you access to smart home controls from your TV’s quick settings panels. It lets you control lights, thermostats, cameras, locks, plugs, other TVs, and speakers and even supports notifications from Nest doorbells.

As part of the Google Home Public Preview program, the Home hub is rolling out now to Chromecast with Google TV (HD and 4K). To join the program, head to the Google Home app on your Android smartphone, navigate to Settings on the bottom right, tap Public Preview and join.
