WUHAN, China (Reuters) -Top seed Aryna Sabalenka shook off a second-set blip to win three back-to-back Wuhan Open titles after beating Chinese fifth seed and home favourite Zheng Qinwen 6-3 5-7 6-3 in the final on Sunday.

WUHAN – Aryna Sabalenka became the first player to win the Wuhan Open three times by defeating local hero Zheng Qinwen 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 in the final on Oct 13. The top seed, who also triumphed at the event in 2018 and 2019, kept her undefeated record in Wuhan intact, improving to a perfect 17-0.

Qinwen Zheng was left furious with a line judge during her defeat to Aryna Sabalenka in the Wuhan Open final. The home favourite was beaten in three sets, with Sabalenka claiming a 6-3 5-7 6-3 victory to wrap up her fourth title of the year.

Aryna Sabalenka said she could relate to Coco Gauff after the American made lots of double faults that proved her undoing in their Wuhan Open semi-final on Saturday, adding that her opponent's misfiring serve gave her belief to turn the tide.

WUHAN, China, Oct 12 (Reuters) - Holder Aryna Sabalenka fought back from a first-set stumble to beat Coco Gauff 1-6 6-4 6-4 in the Wuhan Open semi-finals as double faults proved to be the American's undoing on Saturday while China's Zheng Qinwen overcame compatriot Wang Xinyu.

Sabalenka eased through the opener but lost some control in the second set against the Paris Olympics gold medallist before securing her third straight title in Wuhan.
